Pinkie Jane
Oh Jane, you’ve gone and left us,
Way too soon, and we’re so sad.
But you’ve gifted us great memories,
And for that, we’re very glad.
We paddled for you at Henley,
A tough one you’d have loved.
We imagined you’d be laughing
As we strained, panted and puffed.
We had an empty seat that day,
Up front, next to the drum.
I imagined you, champagne in hand,
Wind in your hair, having fun.
We’re grateful for the time we had,
The giggles, and the laughs.
Your feathers and your fairy wings,
And, of course, our famous ‘faffs’.
I remember when your pink Ted Bakers,
Fell off into the Stour’s waves.
Who knows, one day we might just meet,
A fish sporting trendy shades.
You embodied what is Pink Champagne,
Camaraderie, hard work and fun.
Inclusive support for everyone,
And, of course, all the medals we’ve won.
Come on Pink Champagne,
I want to feel that power ten.
Together we are stronger,
And we’ll prove it again and again.
Paddle free sweet friend,
Wherever you are,
To us, as we are left behind,
You’ll always be a star.
Helen
